Capoeira Angola is an art form
with African roots, developed in Brazil.
Its ancient tradition and practice embody the principles of music,
dance, and fight. It was practiced as a means of liberation from
slavery.
Most of those enslaved and forced to work in plantations were not
allowed to fight or keep their ancient practices.
This resulted in the disguise of a fight as a dance and game in which
music and movement intertwine to form a tool of strategy and
self-expression.
Capoeira teaches physical strength, music, discipline, respect for self
and others, concentration, and humility. Classes offered explore the movements, music, knowledge, culture, and
traditions of Capoeira Angola. Axé!!!
